I am the National Bestselling Author of the Able to Love" and "On the Right Path" series.
I enjoy crafting fiction centered around the four "F" words: Faith, Friendship, Family, and Forgiveness. I am the 2015 winner of the Black Writers And Book Clubs Rocks Female Author of the Year Award.
Originally from Jamaica West Indies, I see myself as a lifelong learner. I have earned degrees from New York University, SUNY at Stony Brook, Teachers College Columbia University and Argosy University. I'm a pastor’s kid and uphold the faith, preaching, teaching, and ministering through praise and worship.
I have always written songs and stories, but my journey towards becoming a published Christian fiction writer took time. I accepted Christ in my life at sixteen years old, but as an educator and mother of two, I had learned how to compartmentalize my life. Though I preached, sang with the praise and worship team, taught and expounded on God’s word, I viewed my writing as ‘my’ thing. It was my pleasurable past time but God had other plans. He saw a different purpose for my secret passion!
It took twelve years and a lot of trials and errors, before I blossomed spiritually and I truly realized that God needed to lead and preside over area of my life. God needed my hands and my creativity to bring Him glory and to be a tool for his ministry. I attended my first ever writer’s retreat, the Faith and Fiction retreat in July 2011 where following much fasting and prayer, I pitched Sing a New Song. God showed me favor, as I was the sole recipient of a two-book deal with Urban Books for that year.
I have earned several degrees in Education, and have worked with diverse students of all ages, which is really rewarding. But using my talents for God has been priceless. His Word has been a light unto my feet and a lamp unto my path. Where He leads me, I will follow.
I would like to leave with a few verses from the King James Version that I hope inspire you, as they have done for me.
Matthew 6:33: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Psalms 37:4: “Delight thyself also in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
